The significant type of C4BP is made out of seven indistinguishable 70-kDa alpha chains, each containing a limiting site for the supplement protein C4b, and an extraordinary 45 kDa beta chain which contains a limiting site for the vitamin K-subordinate protein S. C4BP was overexpressed in the synovial layers of patients with rheumatoid joint pain. It was distinguished in amyloid-beta plaques and on apoptotic cells.
